Danny's Closet of Hope

August 7, 2017

Danny’s Closet of Hope is a non-profit, faith and community-based organization committed to demonstrating the love of God to men in Marion and surrounding counties in the state of Indiana who seek assistance in obtaining adequate clothing for interviewing, gaining and maintaining employment, and building hope for a new future

Danny’s Closet of Hope, a St. Vincent Ascension Ministry, hosted its third annual fundraising celebration on August 7th and The Bill Estes Automotive Team was honored to be a community partner again this year! Thank you to Danny’s Closet of Hope for all of the incredible work you do in our community.

History:

Since June of 2002, hundreds of “STARs” have been created through a workforce initiative of St. Vincent Health. The STAR (Special Talents to Achieve and Rise) Program, directed and facilitated by Linda Nunley, was launched to give individuals in the community with significant barriers to employment the job readiness and life skills training needed to make them shine. In that same year, a star went out in Linda’s life. On Friday, August 3, 2002, one minute before midnight, the phone rang in the Nunley home, bringing news that the son of Danny Sr. and Linda Nunley, Danny L. Nunley Jr., had been murdered.

Out of the tragedy of that dark night a new star has arisen; a star of hope for those in need. Danny’s Closet of Hope came into existence in 2007, as a means to reach out to the community that Linda has come to love, providing professional attire for men seeking employment who possess no other means to acquire appropriate work clothing. Danny’s Closet shines a light of hope for men needing help and serves to keep alive the name of the son whom she loved and cherished.
